The current method requires a high risk climb of towers by people/inspectors of the towers that may have a structural flaws (being unsafe to climb), and takes a huge amount of time and effort to manually map and test the towers.
Drones do not get paychecks, they are way faster, and many ways more accurate. They produce 3D models of the entire tower/hardware package accurate down about 2 MM.
