Current share price should have nothing to do with the buyout price correct? Also , why would a large Oil Company like Exxon not be interested in this since it's a direct competitor controlling why would they not want to control this?
Why would current share price affect their bid. They either bid high enough or they lose. Sealed bids so no one knows and no price point would affect those bids- you bid to win, not bid based on current price. Each company has to have a number as to what valuation they place on the company and they will bid accordingly. My guess is it is a futuristic bid based on estimated earnings down the road.
