Isn't there the full 3 year data on the extension trial to be released in November? Might some extension trial interim data be released at AAIC? I know I am interested in this information, even if the numbers are small. And I agree that the 3 trial starts may gather some interest...particularly if BIIB's amyloid hypothesis is seen as weak and the Sigma Receptor target gains more credibility.
One of the best outcomes of AAIC for AVXL would be a large increase in the price of BIIB. Paradoxical? Hardly. Those large Biotech investors in Biogen those that invest for the catalysts rather than current earning would likely take some profits on BIIB and use even a small portion of those profits to hedge the Biogen ALZ catalysts with a position in AVXL. Cantor Fitzgerald will have customers AVXL will have capital raised and increased institutional presence. All Anavex needs to show is that they are on track and making incremental advancements. AVXL at this point is a long term developmental investment. If one is a trader and seeking a large gain over a short term one might want to consider a biotech in Phase 3 with a set PDUFA date and very good chances for approval like Verastem. Some would favor a portfolio of biotechs at various stages. AVXL at this point might be considered a candidate for the longer term lower relative risk (because of current valuation) portion of the portfolio. Long Anavex Life Sciences. Slow and steady wins at this stage of the race.
