extelecom, I think the abortion isssue and taking prayer out of schools were two big reasons for looking at parties versus individuals. I believe conservatives realized the Democrats would never stop abortion and are strong supporters of the ACLU which many conservatives believe want religion stripped from all public places. That in my opinion has helped to propogate the party versus party issue. That is one mans opinion and I also know the problem is much more complicated than that.

It really is unfortunate. While all this "If you don't agree with me politically, you're stupid." stuff goes on, our "representatives" keep extending the terms of copyrights and patents. Now, I see, the "intellectual property rights" to Jimi Hendrix properties will be auctioned off in New York, on Thursday. We built the greatest nation in the world (and the largest corporations) long before anyone even heard of "intellectual property rights". Now, as our government helps giant corporations extend their ability to milk the public, our nation is slipping into a cesspool of greed and self-indulgence.

I often listen to the music of the '30s and '40s ... it was cheerful and upbeat. We were broke, but we had spirit. I don't think we have anything like that now. We need a good depression.

>>>One should vote for a person, not a party.<<<

What does that mean? That you vote for a politician depending on his personality and ignore the ideology he represents with his party affiliation?

When did Bush ever get elected? That's the problem here.

I guess you have never understood I am NOT "FOR" the Democrats. I AM AGAINST the corrupt Neo-Conservatives and horrific crooks and liars who have co-opted the Republican party. They don't even really hide their greed and nastiness anymore!
All I want is some checks and balances in place. Picking between the two parties is like deciding on the Gambinos or Genovese family for your protection racket.

Hell, if I had my druthers, every politician would be more like Ron Paul.

He's about my fave guy out there right now. And surprise of surprises, he's listed as a Republican!
