The Twitter responses you refer to are the direct result of saying too much, too early. A motto I have used throughout my career is "Do your best, forget the rest." No matter what one says, there will be contrarians and naysayers and now in the era of the keyboard, the need for gumption or courage to confront others has disappeared. . . .

Newbies know what they bought in. It's the newbies dress in wolf skin are crying wolf. It's fine if they want to make some monies but don't expect things to expedite because you buy in. If you want little gain, go buy Amazon. Go buy the big boy. But I can guaranteed you it is not a sure thing. Also, the return on it isn't big so is the risk. I'm not going to get rich buying things that are in their prime. Buy something that has potential to be big. Do your DD. How do you know they are legitimate? That's what your DD is for.
