#130656 RE: weets #130654

Some moderation on a contentious issue

1. Awk's point that there needs to be a server side infrastructure is crucial to understanding how TC works.

2. At the same time, It is possible that our price share kaboom could come from massive adoption by consumers of Seagate FDE machines equipped with $10 to 15 dollars worth of Wave enabling software.

3. We simply don't know if there are any pilots out there by enterprises aimed at implementing a new trusted consumer application. I don't think so, but I won't throw away the possibility. Even Apple could have a suprise or for that matter trusted gaming or trusted banking. The point is that some of the pilots COULD be consumer oriented pilots for trusted consumer machines to be marketed for next Christmas.

4. I've discovered that the DOD, IEEE, TCG and others have been involved for a while in protecting printers. There's a lot more going on here that meets the eye. This train has been under government supervision for years and it is moving. There is a military side, a govenment side, an enterprise side, and a consumer side.

5. Never forget that most business in the US is business to business NOT business to consumer. Some business WILL start the consumer adoption which could be rapid or not. We will know only when it happens.

6. A bit of interesting DD. ( I do that once in a while) Printers need protection. They, too, are nodes on the internet; computers in their own right, and repositories of critical data. Here's some current info on another slowly developing front of our war for ubiquity. Don Wright is with Lexmark.

Weets,
I agree with you 100 percent. It will definitely be worth it.
No question about it. I am aware of everything you reminded us all of. Still waiting for the orders and the money to show up.

the best,
