Sorry to break the news...but...there will be no "pay up". No cover. No short squeeze.
Why?
Very simple...those trades marked "short" were covered within seconds. That is all short "VOLUME" is reporting. Riskless Principle Transactions whereby the first leg is a short sale before the second or offsetting leg covers...usually within seconds. Only the first leg gets reported to the tape...so it is MARKED short, but the short position disappears immediately when the second leg is completed. ALL TRADES have two legs. Initial and offsetting.
But that short VOLUME information gets passed off as actual shorting or the creation of a short "position" when in fact it does nothing of the sort.
Penny promoters, insiders and dilutors LOVE this misunderstanding...only too easy to make someone think the ticker is being "shorted" when in fact it is not. Convenient cover for dilution with the added side benefit of making folks think that a squeeze is coming when in fact...it isn't.
