You can doubt all you want. Market makers are notorious for working together/helping each other out sometimes while other times they are fierce competitors. Market makers are often times more than happy to sacrifice their vig to see that an important customers order get filled. In this case, everybody knows that Maxim has a majority of the ratchet shs and if the are to show a large offer, all potential buyers hang back and wait. By allowing another market maker to work and order, there is a greater chance of the order getting done. I know this from actual experience of having been a market maker for a major brokerage house for many years. I also do maintain some friends in the business. But, believe as you wish.
