I was going to add that Buffett started with six shares of Cities Service Company at $38 each when he was 11. He made money on it but sold too early. Result: The birth of a buy/hold investor.

I got my Boeing for free. My shares were part of a spinoff from Rockwell International 20+ years ago. Rockwell also spunoff what would become Skyworks Solutions, a major Apple chip supplier.
Good things happen over time to quality investments. Rockwell International divided into Rockwell Automation and Rockwell Collins. Rockwell Collins is now in the process of being bought out by United Technologies. Rockwell Automation (ROK) is $208 a share.
