Jerusalem is a holy city recognized by several religions and should not be used as a political ping pong. The Jews have no claim to the city as their capital anymore than the Catholics or Muslims.
The US thing about recognizing Jerusalem as the capital was stupid to begin with which is why previous presidents had continued to kick the can down the road.
