You see that move of the embassy as"Bullying" other nations? My, MY!!

And I assume that you think that anyone can successfully mediate to settle the problems between Palestine and Israel.

The problems of today, between Israel and the Arabs that call themselves Palestinians, for the most part, began when Israel was formed to provide Jews their own country and homeland. There will be no settlement of hostilities ever, in my opinion, unless Arabs get their wish to totally eliminate Israel and/or Palestinians can unite as a single faction. There has never been a Palestine or a Palestinian language, even though they were given recognition as a people by many countries and the UN in 1988, in the hope that a Palestinian State (or country) could be formed, to create peace in that region. Since then they have split into 3 different camps (PLO, PA and Hamas) and have been the tool of Iran to promote the total elimination of Israel as a country. Before any peaceful solution can be even attempted, Palestinians must first unite under one leadership. Until then dissention will continue, not only with Israel, but within the pseudo Palestinian State itself.

As to Israel, they are our only true ally in that region. For years we have been fence sitting due to our need for Arab oil. The Israelis have understood this and have remained an ally, even when we had to capitulate to Arab demands and not stand by Israel as strongly as we should have with an ally. We have spent billions in aid to the Palestinians in an attempt to bribe our way toward peace. And no matter what we do or what concessions the Israelis offer, it is never enough. Israel recognized that fact and became discouraged and hard line in refusing further Arab demands. We are now also recognizing that fact and have become decreasingly dependent on Arab oil, allowing a more definitive stance towards peace in that region.

Moving the embassy to Jerusalem is symbolic in that respect and is also a signal that we will no longer be passively aggressive in our mediation. The hope is that the Palestinians will recognize this and realize they must get order in their own house and develop a realistic and set number of conditions for peace.

Sorry this was so long, but, the topic of peace in the Middle East and the reasons and ramifications of events is tangled and can not be explained in a sentence or two. I've tried my best, as briefly as I could and probably not as fully as necessary.
