Being lawyers and all, LP and LP probably know all about this.
Not true.
Most often, even a good lawyer in his specialty is an almost complete neophyte in areas of law outside his specialty and not too much better than an average intelligent layperson.
So a tax lawyer defending a criminal, or a great PI lawyer trying to do corporate work, or a patent lawyer trying to do SEC litigation etc are almost useless and way out of their depth. That is part of the reason that most of those in politics when they have a legal problem must get a specialist to represent them even though they often themselves are lawyers.
