I was in Iowa in the early 70's. Driving to California. I saw a couple of people hitching by the side of the road; very cold, a bad storm approaching. I pulled over, they climbed into my warm van. I took them to their door, Davenport, Iowa. They asked me to come in. I did. Met their folks, they made us all a fine dinner and I slept in a nice bed for the first time in many days. And a great breakfast before left that morning. I'll never forget them or Davenport Iowa.
