Nah! KK…
Ya gotta live life on the edge. <g>
“ If we don't download anything... we should be all right? “

Keep your anti-virus program up to date with both program updates and virus definitions. These days, it wouldn’t hurt to *manually* check for updates on a daily basis.

Occasionally do a full scan of your ‘puter… Just in case something slipped through, or you previously downloaded something evil before it was included in the virus definitions.

Occasionally check to see if your anti-virus program is actually working, as some viruses disable the anti-virus program when launched.

Here is a link to a Trend webpage that allows you to download (or attempt to download?) a small HARMLESS file named eicar.com that should trigger a virus alert.
I keep a copy of this file on a data partition at home, and on a write-protected floppy at work.

Make sure that your email program is not set to preview the incoming messages. In the preview mode, the highlighted email is automatically opened in the preview plane.
In Outlook Express, at the top, click:
View / Layout
Uncheck “Show Preview Plane”

A quick look at the sender’s name in the inbox list can be a clue as to whether the email is a virus or not. If the sender’s name appears as “janedoe” when a valid email from that person shows up as “Jane Doe” … then be suspicious.
