Why would they take it private and go through all the trouble of taking it public again later? Yes sometimes that happens but I don't think that is the case here. You need public float trading to have a public company. If they cancel the shares this stops trading and their whole investment is illiquid

They own 51% preferred shares owned by insiders, shareholders own some other shares, and the float is the unsold shares,,,
