Frankly, I would not look a gift-horse in the mouth. If my company offered me $1000 toward *anything* I would be grateful.

Incidentally, my company is a Dell-only shop. That decision was made some time ago, when Dell actually represented good customer service. Lately, as others have observed, Dell's service has suffered greatly. As a result, we are considering changing the Dell-only policy.

Now, if I can just get them to give up the Microsoft-only policy... IIS has gotten them into all kinds of trouble, but they will not consider Linux under any circumstances. The new IT manager considers Linux a "hobby OS". (really - his words!)

A month or so ago a lady came to my shop with her Dell. The NIC blew out so I stuck a cheap LinkSys NIC in and all was well. I did notice the PSU was rated at 180 watts. It had a 2.8 P4 512Mb memmory 60Gig HD, burnrer, and CD-Rom. I said nothing to the lady but 180watt PSU seems a little light to me. Had 1 case fan on the back plane no CPU fan. Lots of duct work though. She said she paid around 2,000.00 for the machine? I fully understand office type units dont require 460Watt PSU's etc.
I would not buy one, but then again like most on this board I allways built my own>
