Xan, The more I think about it, I believe central avenue does go through the west side. One of my buddies worked in the austin district(15) several years back. It was a rough area. He mentioned central avenue, as well as madison street. I believe it was a small district just a 3 or 4 mile radius. If you want I can double check with my friend. I read your message a ways back where you were thinking of coming to Chicago.

Hi Xanadu,
It would be great if we were 12 blocks further west, that would put us in the town of Oak Park, a very "trendy" area... The problem is we're not, the division lines are pretty apparent in that area of Chicago... I swear they are night and day, travel east bound on Lake street from Oak Park... Wham-o, in a matter of blocks you're rolling up your windows and locking your doors as saying "what the hell happened?", it's scary... I would not park my car anywhere near there not to mention walking around at anytime of day... Unless things have drastically changed in the last few years, I would not venture out there...
