Well researched and truthful DD.
I don't know about you, but l learned from my 8th grade science teacher two very important things about science experiments:
#1. that certain outcomes can be manipulated under the controlled environment of the laboratory, and
#2. that lab experiments under optimal conditions in a controlled environment are rarely duplicated in the real world

Fake news Et tu eiddle, tell the whole story stop trying to mislead people with only part of the story .

From Mantra 10k posted 9/30/16 what was purposely left out is in red.

Until appropriate cathodes are found some products of CO2 reduction (methanol, for instance) are obtained at efficiencies too low for practical use. Other products can be generated on known cathodes with high current yields that could support valuable practical processes. For example, formic acid and its salts have been obtained on tin cathodes with current efficiencies above 80%, at industrially relevant conditions. at industrially relevant conditions. and from 10Q posted 6/05/17

Current efficiencies exceeding 80% have also been obtained on proprietary silver cathodes for carbon monoxide, the key constituent of syngas.
