#201101 RE: secureresources #201100

Always good to "hear" new voices - your reply to Steph reminded me of a recent NYT editorial, part of which...
"This president has tried to focus the American people on the fear of terrorism, for which there is no cure, only bad choices or something worse.
Part of Mr. Bush's legacy may well be that he robbed America of it's optimism - the next group of leaders will have to resell discouraged Americans on the idea of optimism."

FDR and RR did it - REAL "leaders" do it.

And if you were wrong? That enraged group was misinterpreted by you and because of your lack of understanding of their culture, or the meaning of their words you took it to mean - they wanted to kill when they really didn't?

Interesting your first response was to "take out" the other side without talking to them. In our process of evolving from the jungle reason has become part of mans repertoire of skill sets available to him. I just wish more people would use that part of their skill set - if they have it.

Of course in real life what would happen to you - you would hopefully be tried and convicted for at least manslaughter. What would be the punishment of a country - well we will see because of the fear of our leaders.

Let's get hypothetical here. If someone, for whatever reason, became so enraged against a group of people, and your child was part of that group, that the enraged people decided to "take out" that entire group. Wouldn't you blow the guy away before he killed your child?

as a mother of 5, my answer is NO. I would do everything I could to protect my child, but NOT pre-emptively attack anyone because that's contrary to my more values and integrity. I would focus on other ways to resolve the conflict and protect myself... encouraging use of brain power rather than brawn.
