Rex Tillerson, the secretary of state, is a near phantom. He has no deputy, having seen his first choice nixed by Trump. No State Department press briefing, once a daily occurrence, has been held since Trump took office.
Really, what's the matter with Tillerson? He's not a fool. Whether one likes him or not, he has a great deal of international, quasi-diplomatic, experience. He's been an expert CEO; he knows how to make decisions and see they're carried out.
So why's he suddenly become a shrinking violet? I really don't get this. Will he be the next to resign?
