I highly doubt it'll continue much longer...I think that telephone update being rescheduled then canceled was a sign that things may be nearing an agreement. That settlement update isn't for the parties involved. It's for the judge to see where things are at with everyone. IMO, he would only cancel it if he feels they're on track to settling and not wasting much more of his time.
Also compare this to the Microsoft case. Microsoft wasn't even served until October 2015. They didn't answer the complaint until mid-December. They settled a month later. Statistically speaking, something like 80-90% of all patent infringement cases never go to trial. With BR working on contingency, the other lawyers likely see this is a very solid case, so the defendants are not likely to drag things out any longer than they have to as they're just running the bills up. They're just working on getting a settlement both parties are willing to accept. Because of the contingency, they also can't try to pressure SFOR into settling by dragging the case out until they can't afford their legal fees and have to settle on the cheap just to keep the lights on, like what nearly happened with Microsoft.
SFOR was very poorly run in the beginning...I'll give you that, but things are changing very rapidly for them now.
