Yeah, "break even" on long held AMRN shares requires much more than the pps simply returning to your cost basis, you need to account for lost opportunity costs too. Assume you bought $10k worth of AMRN 5 yrs ago - you need the value of that position to be worth $12.8k to match an investment yielding 5% compounded twice per year over 5 yrs, neglecting any cap gains. If you'd put $10k into AT&T stock 5 yrs ago your position would be worth $17.8k today (12.21% annualized yield), assuming you reinvested the divs, or received $9.25/shr in dividends if you took cash instead. I actually had T years ago, pps was stagnant for nearly 2 yrs, yield was much lower than it is now, so I dumped it - BIG MISTAKE - I'd be up 250% in it by now! :>(
