George "The Animal" Steele, the colorful 1980s wrestler known for his habit of chewing turnbuckles, died Thursday, according to Fox Sports. 
Steele was reportedly in hospice care. He was a native of Detroit, and was also known for using a green tongue gimmick. 
Steele played the part of villian for much of his career but became a fan favorite in the late 1990s.
