#165346 RE: The Count #165334

Count .. Our great divergence comes in that you feel since they have this superior position it is ignorantly presumptious to question anything they do, including determining compensation.

Sometimes I think I am a terrible communicator. It is not that I think it is "ignorantly presumptious" to question anything they do at all and I'm getting the feeling that others here feel that is what I am saying as well. I just don't think it is particularly helpful to my "investor job" .. and may be counterproductive .. to keep asking the same question over and over .. albeit in slightly different form .. when I have a clear picture of management's position on the subject at hand and realize they are not going to change it. If I think their answer is wrong, they get a bad mark to be weighed against whatever good marks they have. If their answer is really bad then they get a really bad mark. When their overall subjective grade is "C" I'm thinking about moving on. If it drops below that it is sayonara rather than do anything to try to rectify the situation. As for class action suits if we are dealing with crooks I have better things to do with my time. FWIW, I rate the current management team at B to B+.

Having said that, I also believe that one should recognize that rating management on anything is a tricky business because by its very nature the rating is based on only a small amount of the full spectrum of information that should be applied to a complete and objective evaluation.
