For now, that is the only goal that has been mentioned by IDCC for 3G. I first associated that goal with the LTCP because it was link to the year 2010 = the end of the third 3 year cycle. If you divide it by 3 you get 25% per cycle. Then we were told that IDCC is currently collecting on 35% to 40% of the 3G devices being sold which is very close to 50% for the second 3 year cycle. Perhaps with Panasonic, IDCC has reached that 50% goal. If that is the case, then the BOD probably saw the need to adjust the LTCP and hence the 8-K.
Here is another important information.
At December 31, 2005, accrued compensation expenses associated with the performance-based cash incentive were based on a known 102.5% payout for Cycle 1 and an estimated 100% payout for Cycle 2.
As you can see all the numbers in my assumptions makes sense to the known facts.
I will look for more information to either confirm or contradict my numbers.
