In other words, they do not short the stock. They sell it. When they don't have it. Then they buy it back the same day to cancel the sell transaction out, right?

If they have a customer with the high bid. And another customer comes in with a market sell, what the hell do you expect to happen?

Their only reason to do this is to manipulate the stock and maximize their earnings. In the end, they expect most of this activity to get buried with the stock they are trading.
