#38277 RE: mschere #38272

mschere, "me too!" on corpgold. got a lot of those old posts printed and indexed somewhere. LOL! Digging in some new places these days as we wait on this one to play out like we expect.

Best I can offer is that Time Division Duplex can be used as a generic term describing types of air interface design approaches at a very general level, i.e., "While the early commercial applications of radio technology like am/fm radio and television use the "frequency division" aproach for managing the air interface, newer commercial applications of the same radio waves use more advanced "time division" and even "time division duplex" approaches to manage the air interface. Why is that? Answer; because the advances in microprocessor technology have made it possible to create "virtual" channels within a defined frequency by slicing that valuable resource into ever smaller time slots."

TDD is a big ball park with lots of games being played on different fields. InterDigital has developed and patented a specific TDD design to play in the "wireless data" league. There are lots of other, and different, TDD designs developed to play in other leagues like WLAN and long range microwave transmission.
