I'm over it too but I think I may have a great theory. After some extensive reading on the subject I believe I may have found the most plausible reason for the A/S to be raised so high. I read that some companies do this to deter anyone from getting any idea of doing a hostile take over. All the conversions may have diluted the ownership lower than they were comfortable with. Also with the share price so low anyone one could swoop in with minimal cash and gain a controlling ownership of the company. I bet they will do a stock buy back later and then lower the A/S when the time is right.
