I too have a lot of Jan 2017 calls. We will need a miracle for those to pay off.

Hopefulsurgonc,
Watch The Big Short movie, particularly Michael Burry played by Christian Bale. Due diligence, perseverance, and waiting it out was the theme for him to do well for himself and his investors.

Secondary consolation, some of my shares I buy now, I plan to hold until $10-$20/sh, the rest long term. That means shorts don't have those shares to cover when news comes out. When the price was $6 or $7/ sh, my impact in this area was negligible. Now it will be more impactful, if NWBO trials go as I foresee. I think many longs buying now are "hardened" longs who see the "go big or go home" vision and will hold the large majority of their shares above $20/sh, my guess as that is my plan. Shorts will have a limited way to cover, imho.

I would never invest in options unless 2 conditions are met :

_I'm sure there is binary event coming very soon, ideally the day following my purchase
_Implied volatility is much undervalued regarding potential gain after binary event.

I don't know what is the strike on your options, if it is $1 then no worries, even management which is usually quite silent seemed confident to meet Nasdaq $1 requirement before December. If it is $10 then it is still not all lost but then if patients don't have progression it can delay results and that would be for a good reason, that is the problem with options, you can lose all money in them even if you are right on price direction. That is why I stick with common stock, if results come a bit late no worries I will still be fully invested.

I feel your pain, same boat. I believed in the science based on the results that were published (I'm sure I will be ridiculed by some for that) but the data really did sound promising. There's still a chance something good will come from the science, but the silence and dilution have been devastating. I just want to know I didn't invest in a total scam. I keep searching for some confirmation that management isn't completely incompetent. Their inaction to defend the company or inform investors about what is happening has created serious doubt in my mind about their intentions and abilities.

I really try hard not to give advice because none of us really know what is going to happen here. Take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt because there's a good chance we see more downside. If your cost basis is much higher like mine, it doesn't make sense to sell out at almost a 100% loss until the status of the Phase 3 becomes known. I have been long all the way down, although I had a feeling I needed to sell much higher. I'm riding it out. Might kick myself later for that, we'll see.

The options are tough. With the dilution, they probably don't have time to come good, barring a miracle. I own some too.. Hang in. Let's hope we learn our fate (good or bad) soon. The waiting and silence as the stock evaporates is almost worse than just getting bad news, dealing with it, and moving on. I have never experienced anything like this, but everything in life offers some kind of value. Even if it is in the form of a tough lesson. GL

As I was reading of your financial plight and surely how nerve wracking it has been upon you and your loved ones, I was crying! And I just read Do Due Diligence's reply and I've stated when the topic arose I never would approach buying a biotech with options because as I stated, the area is high risk ALREADY and to buy/ or convert one's shares to leaps adds extreme high risk. My sense as to how this evolved is clearly your experience as a practitioner at UCLA and what Dr. Pat Soon Shing: you are referring to the wealthiest individual in LA area courtesy of his incredibly gifted talents: He performed the world's first full pancreas transplant in 1987 to selling two startups companies for ~$7 Bln after his UCLA stint to setting up a handful of co's and doing the biggest biotech IPO NantKwest and leading the Cancer Moonshot 2020 initiative, with the goal of finding immunotherapy solutions for cancer. "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Soon-Shiong.

And my inference here is that you saw such success directly and indirectly with DCVAX that you decided to not only mortgage your home but also probably asked your "stockbroker" how do I expand my common share position and that's how he likely introduced you to your "longer dated?"LEAPS" which an experienced individual said

With the time to expiration issue and if you are not dead on with your prediction of the underlying ... more often than not, your capital in the trade will be wiped out due to being wrong .. and a lot of times ... if you are out of, or at the money ... OP option pain will eat you up too.

Forgive me for this reading and please correct if inaccurate. Unlike those handful of tormenting posters who truly are like vultures it's all about tearing/wearing the poster down a la AFraudstein style, I will HELP and hopefully provide you with more than solace as I have consistently done.. contrary to those despicable lo life heathens of the highest order still in our midst. I'll contact you.

Hi hopefulsurgonc

I think many of self-censor to some degree regarding what we are prepared to say on the board, so your post was actually a breath of fresh air; somebody who is actually prepared to say how it is for them personally. More power to you for doing so. Appreciated your post.

Thank you also to China for 68808.

Hey, I know this is painful but we've been through enough stuff to know how to hang in there; pre-med, all those tests making us feel nuts, med school, more f****ing tests, getting a residency, the hell of residency, graduating residency, more tests, etc., etc., etc. I've been investing at these bottom-ish prices while at the same time taking every bit of extra cash and paying down some debt I haven't considered to be necessary because I want to keep investing in NWBO.

I firmly believe they're deliberately staying silent for a very, very good reason because I know that Linda Powers and Les Goldman are not crooks in any way, shape, or form, and that those that call them that are mean spirited, dissatisfied, and angry people or they have ulterior motives. The fact they've stayed quiet in spite of all the impassioned criticism regarding it tells me they've got something up their sleeve. Hang in there man.

Thanks for sharing. I am in a prayer group and we are going to say a specific prayer for you and that your dedication to your patients is rewarded and that they will soon have a therapy (DC Vax) that is safe and effective. Your willingness to risk your own assets on behalf of your patients whom you are obviously very dedicated to and the way you stand behind your beliefs says a lot about you.

I will also pray that you continue to have faith and strength and that the truth behind what has occurred over the past 16 months will be revealed soon, and that this truth will validate your beliefs. Thanks for being there and sharing your expert experience and opinions.
