eb0783, thanks for emphasising this. I am just surprised that while we all know that Bavituximab is a 100% safe drug now suddenly some 'worries' about that are seeded. As if the safety information was never disclosed or would have been wrong.
However, in the past, a case has been made, by me amongst others, that Bavituximab because it activates the immune system in a DOUBLE way the side effects of the other drugs in the cocktail could be MILDED or as in the text you emphasised even totally prevented.
I think many on here will remember my quite hash statement that it doesn't make sense to cure your cancer and let you die for side effect (mostly results of infections because the immune system is weak and chemo did a lot of damage).
Well the effect of Bavituximab that was observed in the combo is due to that DOUBLE activation. It doesn't only block TGF-Beta and incites TGF-Alfa secretion instead so that the Macrophages can do their work, it ALSO blocks IL-10 and incites IL-12 secretion instead and that takes care of the inflammations and maturing of Dendritic cells and lowering MDSC's.
And WHY does this text say this about VASCULAR EVENTS. Why not about NON-VASCULAR events? Well that is the 'proof-cherry' on our cake. Because Bavituximab can ONLY do the 'IL' thingy in the vascular environment because it needs a blood substance to bind PS on the VASCULAR (not LYMPHATIC) ENDOTHELIAL CELLS. And that are the ONLY cells it can reach.
BetaBodies could do the same for LYMPHATIC ENDOTHELIAL CELLS because they don't need the blood substance.
The maturing of Dendric Cells in the vascular environment is what drives the observation in the text you quoted.
Now that entdoc is comparing the side effects of Docetaxel with those of DOcetaxel+Bavituximab it could be interesting to have a differential, kind of like how much more or less headach, fever, nausea, etc
But as a conclusion, "BAVITUXIMA IS SAFE AND MILDS SIDE-EFFECTS OF OTHER DRUGS IN THE COMBO", is certainly a new quality to emphasise besides ACTIVATE THE IMMUNE RESPONSE (good against relapse) and INCREASES RESPONDERS TO ANTI-PD I-O THERAPIES.
Not bad I things as anti-PD and anti-CTLA therapies are going to need these properties in their cocktails.
