What does that say about her ability to recognize what was top secret?

Once again, according to Comey, classified material isn't always marked "classified". I suspect the days of the impressive red "TOP SECRET" stamp are long gone. What he said specifically was that much of it was discussion--specific or not--about SUBJECTS that the correspondents "should know" were in some way classified.

So let's see… What might those subjects include? Perhaps a recent terrorist attack in the Middle East? Would any discussion of it be "classified", even if it were based on TV broadcasts from the region--is Al Jazeera "classified"?--or news reports? It seems that in at least some instances, that was indeed the case.

Her hairdresser may be the most informed person in America.

Again, that doesn't begin to be what Comey said. Nor did he suggest that she was careless about passing on information in any way. ALL of her correspondence was with people who had the appropriate security clearances.

You know, when some initially criticized Comey for being as specific as he was, I disagreed, thinking his object was simply to show the investigation had been thorough and impartial. But I've since changed my mind. That is, I still believe those were Comey's intentions. But way too few people commenting on his statement seem actually to have heard the whole thing, or read the transcript with attention.

The politicians and their supporters are using it to their own end, which is to defeat Hillary. The news people and their "experts" in many cases don't seem to have understood what Comey actually said. As on the message boards, there's a whole lot of "reading between the lines" going on. And that is always a mistake that leads to misinterpretation.

Was Comey wrong to offer the explanation he did offer? Hard to say. If he hadn't--if he'd just said they'd concluded their investigation and would not be recommending that the DOJ prosecute--he'd have been following the usual procedure. But naturally there'd have been cries of "coverup" from the Republicans. Either way, he was bound to come out the loser. I wonder if he realized it at the time.

American voters have nothing to recommend their turnout this November.

Pick a door. There is a loser behind each one.
