I would also disagree with your 'mom and clean socks' analogy, unless your mom takes pride in her household duties and accomplishments and you have politely asked her where the socks are, in which case I would agree with you, because the analogy is that I also politely asked, I afforded scion the respect of his ongoing work in which I assume he takes pride.
