Well, MDT (-9%) not exactly a "safe" stock today:

ABT is -4% in sympathy with MDT, although ABT and MDT have relatively little business overlap.

(ABT's overlap with MDT will increase, of course, after the STJ acquisition closes.)

The last Barron’s plug for MDT was in Feb 2016 (#msg-120827683); the stock appreciated only 5% from then to now, badly underperforming the broad market.
