...in all honesty...no one knows what the depth of ANY's relationship with MSFT will become...imho, more importantly Management knows what it is not, and should stop encouraging others to issue reports that it is more, until there is evidence that it has had an event and issues a PR.
In my two separate conversations with MSFT lead SVP with ANY, it was made clear to me "you can't go there!" when alluded to more than what he described as "posting on Azure" and at that point, it was nothing more. At this point, it is nothing more.
My assessment is ANY must prove itself more than another Docker etc. product for MSFT to clip a few pennies on each transaction via AZURE. Have the GW boys proven to MSFT that they are more valuable than a Posting to MSFT, enough to justify an acquisition?... Apparently the alleged "disruptive nature" of GW has not been recognized by MSFT as such...otherwise it would have been gone long ago. While GW appears to it can do "neat things"...it appears that management has not been able to monetize the attributes beyond current SP.
The Jury is out, but the evidence so far does not point to ANY/GW as more than a Posting, which MSFT is working with and assisting, as they are with others.
