If Mac states that there is material and very important work being done by Microsoft "behind the scenes", there are 3 possibilities IMHO:

1) he is hoping, speculating, or guessing.

2) he is in possession of material non-public information and both he and whomever gave him that info is possibly in violation of securities laws. Also in violation of the much ballyhooed (but never confirmed) "NDA" with MSFT.

3) It's hooey.
