The former talk show host and media mogul bought a 10% stake in struggling weight-loss company Weight Watchers WTW, +20.70% on Oct. 19, rocketing company shares and turning a $50 million profit for herself in a matter of hours. Company shares rose again — by about 20% at midday trading — on Wednesday after an emotional ad about Oprah’s struggle to lose weight aired on Christmas Eve, and has continued to run on national television this week.
