Re: Who's going to buy it (Global Foundries)?
Global Foundries pretend to be the sole owner of Fabs in several countries. As sole owner it is expected to generate net income for the assume real owner, the Royal family of Abu Dhabi.
The fabs in Dresden were created by AMD and sold to the Royal Family. Since AMD is an American Corporation we have very good information on a very significant support for AMD from the German Government.
The German Government contract with AMD reflected a hope to follow the Japanese method of selling at a loss, hoping to destroy and replace Intel. When the strategy failed and AMD was practically bankrupt, the Royal Family replaced AMD. I assume that arrangement with other Governments may be similar to the arrangement with Germany.
The article I quoted list the Banks that sustained Abu Dhabi. It looks like it is the German Banks that need to be saved. It is the German Government that is looking for a buyer.
At the present time the South Korea Government that subsidies Samsung may join the Germans in a new effort to destroy Intel. I think that the Germans will not agree. I think that the Germans are offering Intel a Monopoly insurance plus subsidy.
I am a chess player.
