Tj, My sentiments exactly... Where is the demand for these high speed handheld devices? Sure there is a demand for wireless data on laptops and maybe even PDA's, but does one really need multi-megabit per second for this? Certainly not for emails and sending pictures....

By 1st-hand knowledge, a dream of Polaroids Edwin Land was everyman's instant cameraa small enuf to slip into ones pocket without bulge or weight. That was achieved only recently by Casio' digital cameras currently on market.
The driver now for telecon w camera is security..as mobilephones become ubiquitous, an in-built cam gives revolutionary entrance into realm of security...and security has increasingly broad connotations such as verification/proof/copying uses that are reusuablecost-free or storable/transmittable at little cost.
The limitless reach of security aspects seem to demand the addition of a cam to the mobile in majority of sales from 2004 onward, to be further used in ways not yet apparent.redhot

TJ,

Thanks for your input... As far as we can see into the future are the applications at hand, some we have not even invented yet and probably do not realize will be a reality. I think of handheld devices as the proving ground for greater things to come and as you stated, data transfer will be the killer app.

As for WiFi, it is a neat technology but limited in scope. Do you really want to go to a Starbucks everytime you want to use a wireless device? Wouldn't it be nice to sit by the pool while on vacation or anywhere else for that matter with your laptop? There are many other examples, but this is just one thought...
