When a company is about to uplist or change the ticker symbol with a name and cusip change. When these things are about to happen you start see new Market MAkers show up. It's very interesting that the last few company MBAY the MM jumped on had crazy gains they were in the same situation of name ticker and cusip change and went from around the same PPS to over 20 dollars per shares and still trade above 19 dollar at this present time. The were holding companies. It's a sign something big is about to happen.
Market makers facilitate trading - matching buys & sells. They are also popular scapegoats ( along with imaginary shorts) when stinky-pinky stocks decline.
