And what about the people who collected the divy, sold their shares, and moved on. Should they also research a company that they are no longer invested in?

Goog and ihub have come into existence just recently. Investing and stock market has been here for generations. You still have to follow normal procedures if you are claiming only 8 responded out of thousands of shareholders. JMHO
