fuagf -- 50 years absolute max, could well be within 25 or so -- 50 years out there is no question they will have been fully self-conscious and self-directed, i.e. alive, for some time, and will have become much more intelligent, at least several hundreds if not many thousands of times more intelligent, than any of us, individually or collectively -- as real as climate change and mass extinction are as major existential threats that on their own may well mean we as a species have probably only something like 200 years left before we, at least as we are and live now, are gone, forever, the machines will eclipse us/leave us forever behind far sooner
