#236745 RE: F6 #236698

F6, ok .. the 50 years sorta fits with the target of the UNSW soccer robot team to beat humans on the field .. sooo, considering your

"may well mean we as a species have probably only something like 200 years left before we, at least as we are and live now, are gone, forever, the machines
will eclipse us/leave us forever behind far sooner " time the idea that one's grandchildren will never be able to look forward to having their own
"

with my

"the understanding that there are real dangers ahead ... (which they get to toward the end in there) .. that before the time
the idea that one's grandchildren will never be able to look forward to having their own human grandchildren (some time
before robots say screw you all in your view .. :) .. the idea that it could be avoided .. you do believe it is inevitable, eh?"

Say it's not avoidable then .. hmm .. average age of a grandparent now by memory is 64.7
.. http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702303775504579395501172676002 .. (it's behind
a pay-wall now for me) .. say as things get harder we make that 70 years to become a grandparent
.. so how many grandparents from now in a sorta maybe typical family line .. this is rough ..

A born 2015, has child B at 35 in 2050
B has child C in 2085
from now, A is grandparent1
B grandparent2 35 years later in 2120
C grandparent3 in 2155
(check, 70 years after C was born in 2085, tick)
C's child born 2120 becomes grandparent4 in 2190

check arithmetic there, please, as in some circumstances now simple stuff gets a bit iffy, chuckle .. so, that's 175 years from now ..
is that right as a very rough family line scenario? .. if any merit in it at all, and if that sort of thing becomes a wider thought, it will
not be too long before more people start thinking seriously about not having children .. that will affect population growth trends ..

repeat, if there is any merit in that picture at all, and if this is inevitable then it's an ugly picture,
not sooo easy to accept it cannot/will not be avoided in any way .. do i grin with acceptance, or shed a tear? .. grin ..
