By itself that is not too unusual. Often a dollar sign is used to denote that it is cash and then the unit of currency is included after the numbers. It is not technically correct, but I see it fairly often.
But, since this person has no idea about audits and many other things, it is dangerous to assume they even know what a Euro symbol even looks like - € may be foreign to their intended audience.
