Are you saying we are not peaking into a major sell-off???
A lot more was put forth than the dirth of corporate buy-back--it was massive corporate insider selling of held stock plus new offerings.
Plus the heavy buying from those that classically buy heavy at tops and sell hard at bottoms.
The DumbMoney is buying hard and fast as the Smart Money is selling hard and fast.
Also trimtabs says the sideline money is maintaining it's strength because the smart-money is banking their money as fast as the dumb money is taking it out of the bank.
That a lot of NEW MONEY is pouring onto the sidelines.
Does that mean nothing?:) Max

<<There are quite a number of other "unintended consequences, as I have elaborated on in the past, for instance, shifting the tax burden onto the retired population that gets dividends in retirement accounts, they pay taxes on those dividends of course. Come to think about it, maybe it was an intended consequence.>>
Why was it "intended"? Or was that <g>?

When I worked for a company that did buybacks, they always said the purpose was to offset dilution caused by the employee stock plans. I don't see why the reduced dividends tax would affect that one way or the other. They tended to concentrate such purchases when they thought the stock was relatively cheap.
