This Quasar isn't the Quasar you're looking for.

But this version of Quasar kind of got it's start the same way. And I've probably seen it a hundred times, someone who is successful in some other field charters a plane or takes flying lessons and sees the rather eye-popping price for such activities and then says to themselves, "Man, I've got to me a cut of all that!"

The problem lies in the fact that aviation isn't expensive because people are hauling home big bags of cash. Aviation is expensive because the government regulates it with a boot on it's throat. Margins are razor thin and a company that is not well managed won't survive long. Even the big airlines generally don't last more than a few decades without the aid of bankruptcy and restructuring.

So you get that guy who runs the show because he controls the money, but has no expertise and it isn't long until corners are cut and employees aren't paid and the certificated people begin walking because they know they can't be there when the government shows (and the government is always coming).

If I could just deal with the science of flight and keeping the aircraft well maintained aviation would be the greatest career available. But literally 90% of what I do is dealing with the damn government. Dealing with the FAA is one thing. But in the last decade or so, it seems like every government agency there is has been worming their way in.

That's why QASP can't run a marijuana business. If they can't make a flight school pay off, they certainly aren't going to be able to make it in a business that the regulators are going to throttle to death.
