I think immigration can be the winning strategy for the republicans in the coming election, but so far they have not seen their opening. All the republicans need to do is solidify around the existing house demands and insist that illegal inflows be fixed before any talk of "guest workers" or any other plan comes on the table -- seal the southern border completely before anything else is done. The dems will never go for that and the republicans can paint them as "soft on immigration" -- which is at the moment the most deadly virus a politician can get.
