Which in practice means on average it provides much less
than 20% performance gain and in worse case probably
near zero gain.

Too bad.

Intel's Core 2 Duo is already 20-30% ahead of anything AMD can put on the market. So when Intel incorporates their IMC, they will be another 20% ahead of AMD assuming equal improvements to both architectures. AMD doesn't have that bright a future, they had better come up with something pretty special in June...
