2015 to be year of Ultra HD as channels drive uptake

That, said the analyst, stressed that lack of suitable content would be the biggest hurdle to mass deployment. It observed that both live and recorded Ultra HD content requires new production/post-production skills that take time to develop, and the workflow itself takes longer, consequently it will take some years before sufficient new content becomes available, other than in movie/film content produced in 4K for the big screen. In addition it warned that although live Ultra HD production equipment is becoming available, a big issue hindering content availability is that producers hesitate to upgrade equipment until technical standards are finalised.
