Yes, Coeur could be effected by SLV, but being a large gold mining firm, Coeur could also be effected by GLD, a similar, but older gold ETF. There are a variety of other funds that are much larger though, in addition to the much more important government, commercial, banking, mint, and industrial users and hoarders. SLV is actually only one drop in a big bucket, but it is easier to trace SLV, since it is stock exchange listed. Most government, commerical, banking, mint, and industrial holders keep their trading activities rather secret,
which is where the vast majority of silver and gold assets are. Most paper currency assets are located likewise, but several important currencies seem to be weakening, including the US dollar, which should strengthen CDE's value, but does not seem to be this week. Any big sellers of CDE this week, and reasons? Bolivia is really a very minor impact on CDE, compared to Bolivia on Petrobras. In fact, I think that Argentine-developed natural gas (NG) trucks could be a big boost to production at San Bartolome open pit operations, since they could use nearby Bolivian NG, instead of expensive Petrobras diesel fuel. Many mines around the world are having more expenses for diesel.
