On the idea of a 'review board'....

It aint happening in the current suggested form. Basically, a lot of folks want *ALL* deleted posts to go to one board so they can review the trash. No way.

What happens with that?
1. Channelling (people posting links to the trash bin where their post is)
2. People having an incentive for posting the way *they* see fit because they can still be heard.
3. I'm sure more. I haven't had my coffee yet.

The way the system is right now, a post gets deleted and I am the only one who reviews the post. If it should be restored, it gets restored.

Now, I am open to something like this: When their is a contraversial post -- like there was one *major* one a few weeks a ago, I would come on to a designated board, say my/this Q&A board and post the message. Say "this message was removed" but I would like to open it up for discussion. That way, people are learning what is acceptable and also get to take a peek at what gets deleted. Who knows, the rules could change because of the discussion.

I am very against letting all posts that are deleted go to a certain thread for review. If that happens, I see my deleted posts ratio doubling or tripling. But I am not against opening up posts in question for a thread to discuss. But, it will be at my discretion, or else every person that gets deleted will want to open it up.

Thoughts?

Thanks again for the idea. I did not think of that.

To agree that personal information and obscenity should be crossed off is good. Leaving the post and "XXXXXXX" that kind of information seems acceptable to me...Again, these points should be brought up to Matt and his consultants to decide.

Give the poster the opportunity to edit the post using properness and expressing the content of post where it does not offend. Poster learns and so does iHub.

TOTALLY AGREE.

Do not discuss this with present CoBs as some of them have their own agenda and most certainly would not like this. Ask some folks around here and they will tell you ahead of time who those will be. <<gg>> This way you can get a jump on it and will know how correct our observations are. Do not underestimate our intelligence, please?

I never underestimate anyone's intelligence. I believe that all should be respected, until they prove that they should not!

PS: May the surgery go smooth. Good Luck.
